Braj Kishore Ravi, former IPS officer & Director General of Police, has dedicated over three decades of his life in service of the nation in the fields of law enforcement, public administration and security. Sharing the secular principles of the Indian National Congress, with focus on the empowerment of underprivileged sections of society, he chose to voluntarily retire from service and join the Congress party.

JOURNEY SO FAR
Born into a family of freedom fighters in rural Bihar, Braj Kishore Ravi embarked on a remarkable journey. He took a break from school in 8th grade to explore farming, later returning to academics to earn a Gold medal in Sociology from Patna University. Continuing his educational pursuits, he obtained a postgraduate degree in Sociology from the Delhi School of Economics.

In 1989, he joined the Indian Police Service and represented India in the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces (UNPKF) after the Bosnian Civil War in 1998-99. During the early 2000s with the CISF, he played a key role in formulating security policies for critical energy installations and aviation security in India. Recognizing his expertise, the Government of India appointed Mr. Ravi as Advisor (Security) for the Indian Oil Corporation in 2015. There, he played a pivotal role in revamping security policies for onshore and offshore rigs, refineries, and supply chains.

During his distinguished 33-year career in the Indian Police Service,
Mr. B. K. Ravi assumed pivotal roles, serving as the Director General of Police for Vigilance, TNEB, and as the Director of Fire and Rescue Services in Tamil Nadu.
